Minimum 1+ years visually impaired experience required. This opportunity is for two qualified Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students across various school settings in Chicago, IL. These positions are scheduled for the next school year under contract. The role centers on providing specialized instruction and collaboration to ensure students with visual impairments fully access the general education curriculum and school environment. Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct and consultative services to students ages 321 with visual impairments Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals tailored to each students unique visual needs Teach compensatory skills including Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility (in partnership with O&M specialists), and daily living skills Adapt classroom materials and provide consultation to teachers for accessible instruction Collaborate with educational teams, families, and related service providers to support student success Travel between school sites when serving in an itinerant capacity Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities This role offers the chance to positively impact students by enhancing their access and learning opportunities in the school environment.
