Minimum 1+ years visually impaired experience required. A full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) position is available near Norfolk/Chesapeake, VA, serving K-12 students in a school setting. This is a contracted assignment running from August 18, 2025, through May 30, 2026, with a standard work schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

This itinerant role involves traveling between locations to support students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. The caseload includes students with varying visual impairments, with a focus on providing specialized instruction in braille and related skills. One elementary student is legally blind and will require significant braille assistance. Collaboration with occupational therapists (OT), physical therapists (PT), and orientation and mobility (O&M) specialists will be essential to support comprehensive student development. Responsibilities: Provide specialized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) while monitoring student progress. Work collaboratively with O&M specialists, OT, PT, and other educational staff to create a supportive learning environment. Guide and support paraeducators, especially in potential 1:1 assistance roles. Maintain detailed documentation and communicate regularly with families and school personnel. Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI). Experience working with students ranging from elementary to high school. Strong knowledge of braille instruction and assistive technology. Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to adapt to itinerant service delivery.
