Position Details Job Title: Teacher, EL Specialist
Building: Administrative Office/District-wide Assignment
Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Summary:
The ELL Specialist is responsible for providing instruction and support to English Language Learners (ELL) to meet local, state, and federal standards for English language acquisition. This role involves administering assessments, adapting curriculum, collaborating with teachers, and serving as a liaison between students, families, and community resources to ensure the academic and social success of ELL students.
Education and Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university is required.
Applicant must be Highly Qualified with the applicable Michigan Teaching Certificate endorsement in: English as a Second Language (NS) K-12 (or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills (preferred); fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both languages
Prior teaching experience (preferred).
Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional design.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

the capacity to rigorously generate and sustain a well-orchestrated system of ongoing data collection and analysis to inform a continuously responsive and adaptive system of tiered instruction attentive to students’ specific academic needs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
(These duties and responsibilities are judged to be “essential functions” in terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA) Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that aligns with local, state, and federal standards for English language acquisition.
Administer academic and language assessments to evaluate student progress in meeting educational and language proficiency targets.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and evidence of academic growth.
Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of individual students and small groups, providing remedial instruction as necessary.
Collaborate with core content area teachers to develop accommodations and strategies for EL and migrant students.
Attend local, regional, and state in-service training as needed.
Complete timely and accurate reports, assisting with state and federal forms as required.
Communicate with families and refer them to community resources or programs when necessary.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.

FLSA Status:
This is an Exempt FLSA position. Exempt employees are not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Schedule: 180 days per year, generally following the TRCS Academic Calendar. Includes non-working days during winter, spring, and summer breaks, as well as designated holidays.
