The Teacher, Special Education provides students with specially designed instruction, appropriate learning activities and experiences that are based on district curriculum and is aligned with the student's individualized education program (IEP).
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
•Knowledge of core areas of instruction.
•Excellent organization and communication skills
•Ability to use modifications/accommadations as stated in IEPs and/or Section 504 Plans.
•Ability to work with students in crisis situations.
•Develops and implements the student's IEP utilizing specially designed instruction that is aligned with the curriculum and required content strategies.
•Leads and participates in IEP meetings for students assigned to designated case load.
•Employs a variety of instructional techniques incorporating current technology tools applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning to facilitate individual student learning.
•Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
•Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum of One year of previous experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
•Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.
•Must obtain current tuberculosis test within the first fourteen (14) days of employment and annually after that.
•Maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility, or obtain within thirty (30) days of hire.
