Responsibilities of the Substitute Teacher K-12 Follow all school policies, rules, and procedures. In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms. Carry out lessons according to the primary teachers/administration instructions. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
