Job Summary CHAMBERS COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
STEAM Teacher
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution
Certified by the State of Alabama preferably in mathematics, science, STEAM or related field of study
Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Pedagogical skills in literacy and numeracy
Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Deliver STEAM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
Uses technology to promote learning, creativity and collaboration.
Works directly with school administration and staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of STEAM initiatives and curriculum.
Organizes, develops and coordinates special STEAM events/ activities.
Serves as a liaison to prospective or selected STEAM vendors, education institutions, and community businesses to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
Initiates new programs that support the STEAM vision and mission.
Shares STEAM events and activities through social media such as, but not limited to, school Facebook and website accounts.
Follows the district's job description for a STEAM teacher.
Assists with community partnerships.
Demonstrates the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
Demonstrates the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades PK through 8.
Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills
Works in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM and online tools.
Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.
Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences.
Demonstrates responsibility and punctuality.
Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Creates a learning atmosphere that includes all students.
Creates lesson plans and projects that increase student engagement.
Collaborates with teachers, parents, students, staff, the community, and administrators.
Creates an atmosphere of excitement for learning.
Exposes students to various careers.
Adapts instruction to meet individual needs.
Relates learning to the students' background knowledge and then expands their learning experiences.
Stays abreast of education research related to STEAM.
Stays abreast of industries in the area and careers as a means of introducing students to a possible future working environment.
Shows your creativity while teaching and in your classroom set-up.
Shows your ability to budget for the needs of the STEAM program.
Visits and researches other STEAM programs.
Creates an evaluative system to annually determine how improvements can be made in the STEAM program.
Showcases the STEAM program to staff, the community, businesses, and industries in the area.
Meets the vision and mission of the STEAM program.
Maintains a clean learning environment.
Plans professional development for the staff.
Collaborates with the STEAM specialist and STEAM consultant as well as any other stakeholders.
Completes all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
Assesses student learning and gives feedback.
Teacher classroom procedures and practices.
Enforces school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
Maintains academic focus by using a variety of motivational techniques.
Terms of employment: The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
