Monroe Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech and Language Teacher to join our team at Arborwood North Elementary School for the 2025-2026 academic year. This part-time (.5 FTE) position provides a unique opportunity to support students with communication needs in a collaborative and supportive school environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW Reports to: Building Principal and Regional Director of Special Education (MCISD) Location: Arborwood North Elementary School Start Date: August 26, 2025 FTE: 0.5 (Half-Time) POSITION PURPOSE
To assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language impairments in eligible students in accordance with IDEA, MARSE, and district policy. The Speech and Language Teacher will support student success through direct intervention and consultation services, ensuring development of communication skills essential for academic and social growth. RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES Evaluate students suspected of having speech and/or language impairments, using standardized assessments and other diagnostic tools. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on evaluation data and student needs. Provide direct and indirect speech and language therapy services aligned with IEP goals. Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to integrate communication goals into the educational setting. Maintain compliance with documentation requirements including evaluation reports, IEPs, service logs, Medicaid billing (as applicable), and progress reports. Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and IEP meetings, contributing to team-based decisions. Educate and consult with families regarding student progress, strategies for support, and generalization of skills. Implement evidence-based practices and use data-driven decision-making to monitor progress and adjust interventions. Support inclusive practices and collaborate with staff to promote the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) for students. Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with MDE certification requirements and best practices in speech-language pathology. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Speech and Language Impairment (SB) endorsement , - OR - Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by LARA and MDE approval as a Teacher of Speech and Language Impaired (TSLI) . Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and current practices in speech-language service delivery. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based educational setting. Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience providing speech and language services in a school setting. Familiarity with Michigan IEP (PowerSchool) or other IEP management platforms. Experience implementing therapy in both pull-out and inclusive environments. Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) , phonological awareness , and literacy-based interventions . COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Per Teacher Master Agreement
