Job Title: Special Education TeacherSchool Site: Freedom Academy (K–8)Reports To: Principal and Director of Special EducationEmployment Type: Full-Time, 12-Month PositionPosition SummaryFreedom Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, support, and services to students with disabilities in grades K–8. This teacher will develop and implement effective, legally compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with colleagues and families, and ensure that all students are supported in reaching their academic and social-emotional potential.Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Student SupportProvide direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and inclusion settings based on IEP goalsAdapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needsImplement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPsIEP Development & ImplementationDevelop, write, and maintain IEPs in compliance with IDEA and state guidelinesCollect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordinglyConduct assessments for initial, annual, and triennial evaluationsCollaboration & CommunicationWork closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administration to support inclusive practicesCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and servicesParticipate in and lead IEP meetings, ensuring parents and team members are fully informedCompliance & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of student progress, services, and communicationEnsure all timelines, reports, and documentation meet legal and district requirementsSupport the school in maintaining compliance during audits and reviewsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred)Valid Arizona Special Education teaching certificate or eligibility to obtain oneKnowledge of IDEA, state-specific special education regulations, and instructional best practicesStrong classroom management, organizational, and communication skillsProficiency with IEP software platforms and educational technology toolsPreferred Skills & AttributesExperience working in a K–8 settingExperience with co-teaching modelsA growth mindset, commitment and passion for serving all learnersBilingual (English/Spanish) is a plusWork EnvironmentFull-time position located at Freedom Academy (K–8 campus)Classroom setting with occasional off-site meetings or professional developmentMay include occasional evening IEP meetings or school eventsCompensation details: 60000-63000 Yearly SalaryPI3372df2c124b-30070-38177284
