Position Overview: Intermediate self-contained special education (grade 4-5) The teacher is responsible for planning and implementing engaging instruction in a self-contained setting that is aligned with the curriculum and modified to meet the needs and abilities of each student. The teacher monitors student progress and communicates regularly with parents, staff, and administrators. The teacher collaborates with other classroom teachers and related service providers in the development and implementation of best practices, thus ensuring that the students needs are met in all school settings. Primary Responsibilities: Develops lesson plans that demonstrate the important concepts and skills in each subject area, as identified by the districts curriculum. Prepares lesson plans that incorporate best practice instructional strategies for each subject matter. Uses a variety of Instructional resources and materials in planning engaging and differentiated activities that are structured to advance student learning. Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs that are tailored to each students academic and social/emotional needs. Utilizes a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles, providing one-on-one or small group instruction based on student needs. Designs a variety of student assessments that are aligned with the learning outcomes, using both formative and summative assessments to: Monitor student progress toward the learning outcomes; Monitor student progress toward their IEP goals; and Adapt instruction for the whole class, individuals, or small groups of students. Prepares for IEP meetings by updating relevant sections of the IEP in accordance with deadlines set forth by the Coordinator- Special Education. Qualifications: IL license and PEL w/ LBS1 endorsement Previous experience in Special Education is preferred Why Make a Move with Cross Country Education?
