A school district in Washington Navy Yard, DC, is seeking two Special Education Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year to support a self-contained classroom environment. These full-time contract positions focus on elementary students in grades K and 3rd through 5th.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique learning needs of students with disabilities.
Manage a self-contained classroom setting, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Collaborate with staff, families, and related service providers to ensure each students progress and well-being.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records aligned with school and federal special education requirements.
Provide direct instruction and behavioral support while promoting social and academic growth.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification.
Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in self-contained classrooms.
Strong knowledge of special education strategies, IEP development, and compliance.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to onsite instruction and collaboration from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This is an onsite, 37.5-hour per week contract role offering a competitive pay range of $35 to $45 per hour. The position covers the full academic calendar year and requires dedicated educators passionate about fostering student achievement.
