Position: Special Education Teacher
Location: Mesa, Arizona
Contract Length: 36 weeks
Weekly Compensation: Up to $50/Hr, based on experience
Job Description:
As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students who have a range of physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning disabilities. You will create and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs), provide targeted instruction, and collaborate with parents, teachers, and school staff to support students’ academic and personal growth. Your role will be critical in ensuring that all students receive the resources and support they need to thrive in an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. Provide direct, individualized instruction to students in both one-on-one and small group settings. Adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the specific learning needs and styles of students. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other staff to support student learning and well-being. Assess and track student progress, making adjustments to teaching methods and IEPs as needed. Provide behavior management strategies and support for students with emotional or behavioral challenges. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued. Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights and recommendations for student goals and accommodations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including assessment data and progress reports. Stay informed of best practices, trends, and regulations in special education.
Education + Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field. Valid Arizona State Certification in Special Education. Experience working with students with diverse learning needs is preferred. Knowledge of current special education regulations and best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and staff. Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs and educational strategies. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
