Position Overview:
As a Special Education Teacher focusing on Resource Programs, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience for students with disabilities. Your main responsibilities will include coordinating and delivering tailored instructional programs designed to meet the unique needs of each student in accordance with their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). You will ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, while fostering a positive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of instructional practices specifically designed for special education.
Strong understanding of curriculum standards and age-appropriate developmental expectations.
Familiarity with state and federal policies concerning students with disabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.
Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality as per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Skill in motivating students from diverse backgrounds.
Strong classroom management skills with a focus on student safety and well-being.
Effective communication skills in both oral and written formats.
Aptitude for building strong relationships with students, parents, and the school community.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Certification Requirements:
Eligibility for a Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area in North Carolina (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
A valid motor vehicle operator's license as per North Carolina requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
First Aid and CPR certifications.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IEPs, utilizing diagnostic information for student assessments.
Execute specialized instructional strategies and monitor student progress effectively.
Support students in achieving curriculum and IEP objectives.
Utilize diverse teaching methods and adapt materials to meet individual learning needs.
Monitor classroom behavior and implement disciplinary strategies as necessary.
Evaluate student assignments and provide constructive feedback to guide learning.
Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices.
Perform additional duties as needed per supervision.
Working Conditions:
Physical demands include the ability to operate office equipment and communicate effectively. You may be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Working directly with students in a classroom and office environment will be essential.
