A school district in Lebanon, OH is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for an elementary school contract position for the next school year (NSY). This role requires an Ohio Intervention Specialist certification and involves working with diverse students to provide individualized instruction and support.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12 depending on the student population)
Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
Skilled in individualized instruction, accommodations, and modifications
Experience with progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments
Proficient in behavior management strategies
Strong collaboration and effective communication skillsPreferred:
Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
Experience in inclusive education, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Training in Behavioral Interventions such as PBIS and BIP development
Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive curriculum tools
Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLSE)
Bilingual or multilingual skills valued
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and teams
Provide direct instruction and intervention to enhance academic, social-emotional, and functional skills
Modify curriculum materials and assessments for individual needs
Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching
Monitor student progress using data-driven methods and adjust instruction as necessary
Administer and interpret academic and behavioral assessments
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed
Facilitate and document IEP, Evaluation Team Report (ETR), and 504 meetings
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians
Utilize assistive technology and specialized strategies to support student learning
Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and reporting
Participate in ongoing professional development
