A Special Education Teacher role is available at an elementary school in Dayton, OH, for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This position requires a dedicated professional to provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in compliance with Ohio state and federal regulations. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12, as appropriate) Strong knowledge of IDEA and IEP development processes Ability to implement tailored instruction, accommodations, and behavior management strategies Experience with progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments Effective collaboration and communication skills with educators, staff, and families Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership Experience with inclusive education, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Training in Behavioral Interventions such as PBIS and development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Familiarity with assistive technology and Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLSE) Bilingual or multilingual abilities Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in close collaboration with teams and families Deliver direct instruction and interventions targeting academic, social-emotional, and functional skills Adapt curriculum and assessments to meet diverse learning needs Support co-teaching and inclusion efforts alongside general education staff Use data-driven strategies to track student progress and adjust instruction Administer assessments and manage Behavior Intervention Plans as required Lead and document IEP meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and 504 meetings Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress Apply assistive technology and specialized instructional techniques Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and reporting standards Engage in professional development activities to enhance instructional skills Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees 401(k) retirement plan with company match This role is ideal for an educator committed to fostering the growth and success of students with disabilities.
