An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in an elementary school setting for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction to students in grades K-5, specifically addressing Life Skills and Severely or Multiple Disabilities (cognitive) areas. Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum to meet varied learning styles, and collaborating closely with a dedicated team of seven educational technicians (paras) to support a caseload of 12 students. The teacher will foster an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes growth and independence for students with significant learning challenges. Key Qualifications and Experience: Maine Special Education Certification (Category 282) or an out-of-state reciprocal equivalent Experience working with elementary students (K-5) in Life Skills and/or Severe or Multiple Disabilities programs Strong understanding of individualized instruction strategies and cognitive disability support Ability to effectively collaborate with instructional support staff Commitment to student-centered learning and fostering developmental progress Location: Belfast, Maine Work Schedule: August 25, 2025
