Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher who will coordinate and deliver direct instructional programs tailored to students with disabilities under their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves monitoring and evaluating educational programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Strong knowledge of instructional practices related to specially designed instruction. Thorough understanding of general content curriculum standards and age-appropriate developmental expectations. Familiarity with state and federal policies guiding services for students with disabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Apps. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality as per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and similar regulations. Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work effectively within a team. Motivation skills to inspire and engage students. Continuous monitoring of student safety and well-being. Experience supporting diverse student backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, using various techniques to ensure clarity and collaborative engagement. Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community. Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Certification and License Requirements: Possess or be eligible for a Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's area. Valid motor vehicle operator's license as per state requirements is necessary. Preferred Qualifications: First Aid and CPR certifications. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement IEPs for students with disabilities, adjusting as necessary based on diagnostic information. Utilize instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for effective specially designed instruction. Assist students in completing curriculum tasks and achieving IEP goals. Employ diverse teaching methods and materials to address varied student needs. Monitor and manage student behavior, fostering a positive learning environment. Evaluate student work, adjusting instruction as needed to support educational goals. Engage in IEP meetings as a collaborative team member. Stay updated on best practices through professional development opportunities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Physical Environment: The successful candidate will utilize a variety of office equipment and must communicate effectively. Occasionally, the role requires the ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds. Physical requirements align with medium work standards. Support from the school's Physical Therapist is available for proper lifting techniques. Work Environment: The role involves working in both classroom and office settings, providing opportunities for interaction with school staff, students, parents, and community members.
