Position: 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher - Extended Resource (Bridges) Requirements: -Current Illinois Professional Educator License -Registered in Region 6 - Suburban Cook County
Duties: Under the direction of the Building Principal and Special Education Administrator, the Licensed Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State-mandated procedures and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students. Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP. Uses appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning. Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals. Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for students to include present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals. Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP. Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction using district curriculum. Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of paraprofessionals. Meets and instructs classes in the locations and at the time designated. Conducts special education evaluations and reevaluations. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations. Completes all district and state reporting requirements. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. Accepts such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
Qualifications: Current LBS1 Certification/Endorsement Knowledgeable in special education best practices.
