A K-12 special education teacher position is available in White Hall, AR for the upcoming school year, offered as a contract role. This position involves working in both self-contained and resource settings, collaborating closely with other school personnel to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with school curricular goals and students Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
Create, update, and execute IEPs for students with disabilities using diagnostic and assessment data.
Monitor and manage student behavior, applying de-escalation techniques, teaching behavioral strategies, and enforcing discipline when necessary.
Provide consultation to school staff, teams, and parents regarding behavior, learning strategies, classroom management, and school-wide behavior support.
Assist students with personal and self-help needs, including eating and toileting.
Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning, tailored to student maturity and interests.
Review referral and assessment data to set appropriate student goals and objectives.
Prepare students for inclusion in mainstream settings and manage transitions.
Utilize effective instructional methods and materials that meet specific learning objectives.
Assess student progress regularly and generate required progress reports.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of teacher assistants.
Maintain and enhance professional competence, participate in staff meetings and committees, and contribute to the schools broader vision.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in special education.
Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with appropriate special education endorsements or required training for the assigned subject and level.
