An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to work in a K-12 school setting located in Muskegon, MI. This contract position follows the normal school year (NSY) calendar, providing consistent employment throughout the academic year.
This role is suited for educators specializing in special education who are passionate about supporting students aged 15 to 19 years. Assignments will be based on the Michigan Alliance for Inclusive and Special Education (MAISD) caseload guidelines, ensuring that workloads align with state standards. The position is onsite, allowing for direct interaction and collaboration with students, staff, and families within a high school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction and individualized support to high school students with special education needs.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student goals.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and counselors, to enhance student learning and progress.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal education regulations.
Participate in professional development and team meetings to stay current with best practices in special education.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Valid special education teaching certification.
Experience working with adolescent students in grades 9-12.
Familiarity with MAISD caseload guidelines and compliance requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to manage a diverse classroom and adapt to individual student needs.
