A K-12 educational institution located in Laurel, MT, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support grades 6-12. This position offers a contract-to-hire opportunity with a regular Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, following the standard school calendar.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction tailored to students with varying abilities, focusing on a caseload of 8-12 students. Some classes may be smaller, ranging from 4-5 students, allowing for more individualized attention.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Foster strong relationships with students, particularly those experiencing mental health challenges, to support their academic and social growth.
Engage in diverse course offerings including Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, Physical Education, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.
Participate in training and certification in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP), focusing on de-escalation techniques and safe restraint methods to ensure a safe learning environment.
Qualifications:
Certification in Special Education is required.
Experience with IEP development and implementation.
Comfort and skill in building rapport with students facing mental health struggles.
Ability to obtain VIP certification through the dedicated training program.
