The Opportunity We are seeking a passionate and mission-aligned Spanish Teacher for Grades 3-5 to serve as a long-term substitute for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a one-year, full-time temporary position, ideal for a recently retired Spanish teacher or seasoned educator seeking meaningful part-time work in a joyful Catholic school environment.
This position is eligible for consideration for a permanent role, as we plan to conduct a search for a full-time Spanish Teacher in Spring 2026.
Position Overview The Long-Term Substitute Spanish Teacher will lead daily Spanish instruction for all students in Grades 3-5. Spanish class at Royal Palm Academy is a fully integrated 5-days-a-week class for all students in Pre-K to 8th grade. This role focuses on continuing the instruction that students have received in Pre-K to 2nd grade with foundational vocabulary, conversational skills, and the cultural richness of the Spanish-speaking world. The ideal candidate will bring joy, structure, and creativity to each lesson, while contributing to the moral and spiritual formation of our students.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish lessons for Grades 3-5 Foster an enthusiastic and respectful classroom culture rooted in joy, curiosity, and Catholic values Introduce students to Spanish vocabulary, conversation, and culture through active learning strategies Communicate regularly with parents and school staff regarding student progress and classroom highlights Maintain accurate records of student learning and participation Support the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Royal Palm Academy Collaborate with enrichment teachers and homeroom faculty to support a cohesive student experience Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in Grades 3-5 Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build rapport with students Enthusiasm for second-language instruction and working with elementary-aged children Alignment with the mission of Royal Palm Academy and Catholic education Retired or semi-retired Spanish teacher with a passion for continued impact Practicing Catholic in good standing Prior experience in Catholic or independent schools Familiarity with elementary world language instruction or immersion strategies Physical and Other Demands
Ability to actively lead instruction and engage students in a classroom setting Capable of lifting up to 20 pounds and managing instructional materials Professionalism and composure in a dynamic school environment To Apply This position is far more than a temporary classroom role.
