Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our remote education team, providing specialized instruction to students with various types and degrees of visual impairment. This role involves serving a caseload of approximately 42-52 students across multiple grade levels while maintaining 35-37 hours of weekly instructional and support activities. The position emphasizes developing students' independence through instruction in pensatory skills, assistive technology use, and academic strategies specifically designed for learners with visual impairments. You'll work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure prehensive educational support through virtual service delivery. Instructional Responsibilities Your teaching duties will enpass providing direct instruction in braille literacy, teaching students to use adaptive equipment and software, and developing pensatory techniques for academic subjects. You'll create accessible learning materials, conduct virtual assessments of students' functional vision capabilities, and implement individualized educational programs designed to meet specific visual impairment-related needs. Additional responsibilities include facilitating munication between home and school environments, providing technical assistance to classroom teachers regarding visual acmodations, maintaining progress monitoring systems, and participating in virtual IEP development and review processes. You'll also coordinate with orientation and mobility specialists to ensure prehensive services for students. Professional Qualifications Applicants must hold current Nevada Teacher of the Visually Impaired licensure and possess a Master's degree in Visual Impairment or Special Education with visual impairment specialization. Two years of experience providing educational services to students with visual impairments in school settings is required. Critical qualifications include expertise in braille instruction and assessment, proficiency with assistive technology tools and applications, experience conducting functional vision evaluations, and demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum materials for students with visual impairments.
