About Us
The House of the Good Shepherd (HGS) has been changing children’s lives for over 150 years. We provide individualized, compassionate care to youth and families through a range of residential, educational, community, and foster care programs across Central New York, the Mohawk Valley, and the North Country. Our agency is built on a foundation of empathy, resilience, and the Sanctuary Model of care, which guides our commitment to healing and hope.
What You’ll Do
As a Social Studies Teacher at the Tilton School, you’ll be much more than an educator. You’ll play a key role in helping students heal, grow, and unlock their potential. Our students have often experienced adversity or disruptions in their education, yet they show remarkable resilience and capacity for progress.
Your teaching will be personalized and grounded in each student’s goals. You’ll work in a structured environment with small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio, allowing for deeper connections and meaningful support. Many students make significant academic and personal gains. Your impact will extend far beyond the classroom.
