Job Goal:
As a High School Science Teacher, your primary responsibility is to cultivate a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students can explore the wonders of life science. You will inspire and educate students about science concepts, processes, and principles, fostering their curiosity and understanding of the natural world. Utilizing student-centered instructional methods, you will empower learners to actively participate in their educational journey, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications Required: Holds or is eligible for the Connecticut State Certification in high school Chemistry (031) or equivalent Interest in teaching environmental and engineering courses preferred Strong knowledge related to the NGSS content standards, CT safety regulations, and inquiry-based teaching Master's degree from an accredited institution Experience in working effectively with teachers, administrators, parents, and community groups Excellent oral and written communication skills Performance Responsibilities: Participates in school and district meetings and contributes to the school community Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation Maintains professional competence through a variety of activities including professional development activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities Ensures safety protocols are followed during lab sessions Adheres to ethical and professional standards in education Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time
Terms of Employment: As established by the Contract between the Weston Board of Education and the Weston Teachers' Association.
Reports to: Principal
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Weston's Educator Evaluation, Growth, and Support Plan and applicable State Statutes.
