Summary

The Heart of Brooklyn Kool Kidz Program at Brooklyn Elementary is seeking to fill a Lead Teacher position. This school-age program operates from September 2, 2025, through June 12, 2026. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for all participants. Candidates must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to foster active engagement and success.
Strong communication skills are essential, as the Lead Teacher will interact with both children and adults, provide guidance to teacher assistants, and address any parent concerns professionally. This position may be combined with an Assistant Teacher role in the morning PRE-K 4 session to offer full-time employment during the academic year. Scheduled hours for this role are from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential for 32-to-35-hour work week schedule.

Duties

-Demonstrate leadership by modeling and coaching to promote teaching team success.
-Design and implement both individual and group activities that are developmentally appropriate, fostering active engagement and supporting children's social, cognitive, and emotional development.
-Maintain consistent communication with parents through regular informal discussions.
-Ensure compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
-Uphold a healthy classroom environment by adhering to hygiene and cleanliness standards as well as ensuring the safety and security of all children.

Requirements

-Strong oral and written communication abilities, as well as foundational computer skills.
-Demonstrated enthusiasm, effective collaboration with staff, children, and parents, and the capacity to promote a positive team environment.
-Comprehensive understanding of child development principles.
-Certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid is required; assistance with obtaining certification will be provided if necessary.
-Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and health screening is mandatory.
-Position requires frequent walking; use of hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, or controls; and the ability to communicate with individuals at
varying volume levels. Occasional kneeling, bending, or squatting may also be required.
-Good organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-A minimum of a level 9 on the registry.
