The School: The Sandpoint Waldorf School, in beautiful North Idaho, seeks an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Music Teacher. Our ideal candidates are trained in Waldorf education or have experience with Waldorf music curriculum and teaching. They should be committed to collegial work, self-development, and excellence in teaching.
The Sandpoint Waldorf School is a school of 180 children, pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. We are in our 32nd year and have been experiencing healthy enrollment, ongoing growth, and strong support from our community. We recently purchased 25 acres just outside of town where we will be building on the land and developing a school farm, with the intent to move the whole school there within the next few years. We have a strong, trained and experienced faculty and a supportive parent body. Our full specialty program includes Spanish, Japanese, Handwork, Movement, Strings Ensemble, Woodworking, Music, Education Support, and Eurythmy (the latter only in an eight to ten week block). Our staff is full of creativity, experience, and commitment, and we look forward to welcoming new teachers into our warm and caring community!
Sandpoint, Idaho is a town of almost 10,000, on the shores of the enchanting Lake Pend Oreille, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. Part-time teachers receive partial tuition remission and the opportunity to enroll in our IRA program (with a 3% employer match).
The Position: The Sandpoint Waldorf School Music Teacher teaches Music classes Grade Two through Grade Eight for two 45-minute periods per week. The music curriculum includes vocal and instrumental instruction on the lyre, Choroi flutes, and recorders. Other responsibilities include organizing performance opportunities for both vocal and instrumental performances on campus and off-site. When requested, the coordinator will coordinate with class teachers about their specific music curriculum and their class plays, offering recommendations for music.
Qualifications: The teacher should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education with experience teaching in school settings. Ideally, the applicant has Waldorf Music Teacher Training and/or Waldorf Music teaching experience.
