Job Summary: The Resource Room Teacher supports students with IEPs through systems that promote emotional regulation and proactive academic behaviors. This position is split between the North Aurelius and Steele Elementary Schools.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Michigan Teaching Certificate - Elementary
- Valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate with endorsement in Special Education.
- Previous successful teaching experience with students eligible as LD, ECDD and behavior interventions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification - Learning Disabilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent collaborative skills
- Additional certification in another area of special education
- Teacher Consultant Endorsement
- Experience with elementary or early childhood students
- Integration of technology into the curriculum
- Proficient with data collection and analysis
- Responsible for all IEP paperwork
- Experience with Medicaid billing
- Demonstrates effective classroom management
- Possesses a caring, creative, energetic personality
- Understanding of MTSS process and knowledge of interventions
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
- The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.
- Work may take place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of travel to other schools or field trip locations.
Work Year & Salary: Per the MDMEA bargaining unit agreement

Schedule: Position begins 2025-2026 School Year, with a desired start date of August 14th, 2025.
