November 14, 2023 School City of East Chicago 2023-2024 School Year POSITION: Visual/Hearing Impairment Teacher REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education START DATE: Upon Board Approval JOB DESCRIPTION: Evaluation of students to determine educational function levels and identify special needs related to the educational environment. Professional to plan and provide implementation of activities to assist students to function in the educational settings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must be licensed to service students with impairments DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a teacher of record and/or teacher of service for students who are visually/hearing impaired Monitor and provide educational services in accordance with the students' IEP Provide evaluations, attend case conferences and develop Individualized Education Program Perform other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties SALARY: Commensurate by Experience and Education Competitive package provided WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
