Salary: SALARY: $18,000-32,000 depending on education and experience

WORK SCHEDULE: 4 hrs/day when school is in session. 191 days, calendar available upon request.

PURPOSE: To support student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Collects and uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
  • Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs
  • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
  • Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  • Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress
  • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
  • Attends the appropriate district meetings and trainings to improve knowledge and skills
  • Provides staff development opportunities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Responsibilities to the School Community and Charter:

  • Responsible awareness and implementation of school charter and policies.
  • Lead, support, and attend school events as required by the school.
  • Perform duties as a shared staff community including student supervision in common areas as determined by staff collectively.
  • Contribute to the Schools efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources
  • Maintain positive contact and communications with parents of students and partner with them to further the academic development of the student; participate in parent teacher conferences
  • Maintain professional and ethical behavior while at school and in the community.
  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, including referral, intervention, and planning phases as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Oregon Elementary Teaching License, Reading endorsement preferred
  • Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
  • Physical and Mental stamina to be able to keep up with high-energy, academically & physically varied students.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand and use hands or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to regularly walk (occasionally on an uneven surface), occasionally sit and reach with hands and arms (frequently reaching above the shoulder), stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Supervision responsibilities require the employee to be able to stand up to 30 consecutive minutes and move rapidly to intervene in situations where a student's safety is being jeopardized.


NOTE: This part time position may be combined with another open part time position to become a full time position.
