Building Substitute Teacher
The Building Substitute is assigned to a specific building and reports each day that school is in session for students. The Building Substitute fills in for daily vacancies in the building.
Qualifications:
- Hold valid New York State School teaching certificate
- Knowledge of curriculum
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Ability to differentiate instruction
- Ability to communicate effectively with students
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation and to incorporate insights gleaned from professional development into practice
- Ability to effectively utilize technology
- Ability to engage culturally diverse students
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
Responsibilities:
- Promote a classroom environment that is culturally diverse, safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
- Administer elementary curriculum consistent with District goals and objectives
- Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher
- Maintain standards of student behavior in the classroom
- Work collaboratively with all staff members
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Building Administrator
Terms of Employment: The position of Building Substitute is a 1 year, per diem, 10 month position. Reports to: Building Principal
