Description: PURPOSE STATEMENT Under supervision of the Director and Assistant Director, plans and implements children’s activities for children between the ages of 2 and 6 in accordance with the goals that are designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed to meet the goals and philosophy of the Pinnacle Schools program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and responsibilities are not listed by importance or priority. Other duties may be assigned as desired by the management. Plans and implements the program in accordance with state and federal regulations and guidelines as well as with the policies and philosophy of the school. Plans individual and group activities based on the needs of the children to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills, work habits, and cognitive development, such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment. Attends all staff meetings, conferences, and recommended training programs. Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self care. Helps children develop habits such as caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys. Schedules lesson plans and parent conferences. Organizes a daily lesson plan with clear learning objectives. Lesson plans are to be turned in to the Director as requested. Assesses developmental needs of each child according to guidelines. Helps each child to become aware of his/her role as an integral member of a group. Assists with record keeping. Supervises all activities to ensure the safety of each child at all times. Takes physical part in children's games and physical development program. Helps with general housekeeping tasks. Keeps any discussion of children's behavior confidential and brings any concerns to the Director.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A minimum of 12 completed units of Child Development and Early Childhood Education with one class in each of the following areas: Child Development, Child Family and Community, and Program curriculum; 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training in working with young children; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate's degree (A. A.) or the equivalent from a two-year college; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE For continued employment, a total of 12 ECE units must have been earned or be in the process of completion. Current First Aid and CPR card required Must have a criminal Record clearance. Current Mandated reporter training certificate Health Screening Will need a current health screening and TB Test, as well as current immunizations (MMR, TDAP, AND FLU)
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or employees. Must be able to communicate praise and acceptance to children.
REASONING SKILLS Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PERSONAL SKILLS Ability to work with people, including teachers, parents, and management. Ability to establish and maintain positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties. Ability to communicate effectively with parents. Ability to handle a crisis with evidence of maturity and good judgment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment; reach with hands and arms a child 20-30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person's health; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, or crouch to a child's height to maintain eye contact; and sit on the floor. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
The position will be part time and hours will be from 8:00am-2:00pm.
