Job Classification: Full-time, at-will, hourly non-exempt

Salary Range: $22 – $25 per hour; commensurate with experience

Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Split Shift During School Year; Flexible Shifts During Breaks and Summer)

Overview: Children's Choice is a well-established Preschool with locations throughout San Diego County. We are currently looking for an experienced and caring School Age Teacher to join our Santee site . This role involves supporting children ages 5–12 in an educational or recreational setting. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and teamwork skills , a passion for child development, and a commitment to creating a nurturing and safe learning environment.

The School Age Teacher will oversee the classroom curriculum program following company guidelines and collaborate with the assistant teacher. Responsibilities include preparing age-appropriate lesson plans, maintaining classroom organization, and managing student engagement.

Responsibilities:

Instruct children using company-selected curriculum (Zoo-phonics; training provided)

Support children ages 5–12 in structured, age-appropriate activities

Attend 1–3 monthly staff meetings/trainings after hours

Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment

Arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance

Comply with licensing regulations and consult leadership when needed

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents

Coach and guide assistant teachers with clear, positive direction

Conduct DRDP evaluations

Qualifications:

At least 12 ECE units including: Early Child Development, Child, Family & Community, Infant & Toddler, etc.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a teacher, preferably with ages 5–12

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Passionate and patient with a positive attitude

Experience with Title 5 preferred

DRDP experience a plus

Comfortable using digital tools and open to training

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Must be able to sit on the floor and/or stand for long periods

Occasional overtime and evening meetings may be required

Possible interaction with class pets or live animals onsite
