Description
The City of Oxford Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Preschool Teacher for the Learning Blocks Preschool Program. Preschool program hours are 7:45am - 5:15pm, Monday - Friday during the academic school year; additionally there is preschool summer camp from June to early August. The preschool program closely follows the same schedule as Talawanda School District.
Examples of Duties
Under the direction of the Lead Teacher or designee, this employee assists in the supervision, care and instruction of students in Preschool by monitoring student behavior, performing classroom tasks, providing information to appropriate school personnel, and assisting students.
Additionally, qualified applicants will be expected to perform the following duties:
Supervise and educate students in collaboration with the Lead Teacher
Provide a safe, enjoyable education for the students
Assist in implementing the curriculum and help maintain records to document compliance with program rules and standards
Participate in daily activities with the students
Confer with supervisors regarding progress, concerns and recommendations
Maintain basic filing of records and documents
Update and improve developmentally appropriate practices with preschool children
Act as the lead teacher when required to perform actions of daily learning
Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned
Assist the department in special events throughout the year
Typical Qualifications
Requirements
Local Police, BCI and FBI background checks will be conducted prior to employment. Applicants will also be required to complete a pre-employment medical and drug screen. Additionally, qualified applicants must have:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prefer previous experience in a preschool-age environment
Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and Child Day Care Licensing Rules and Regulations
Knowledge and experience in classroom management
Qualified applicants must have and/or be willing to be trained in the following within three months of employment and must be ODJFS approved trainings: First Aid & CPR Certification
Communicable Diseases Training
Child Abuse Training
Child Care Center Orientation
