Position Type: 10-month Staff
Reports to: Director of Preschool
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
Preschool Teachers are expected to create an environment that nurtures the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of the children. This requires providing a warm and loving atmosphere for the children and the parents. The teacher and associate(s) in each classroom should work together as a team throughout the day to help provide the desired environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including, but not limited to, the following:
- Create, document and implement weekly lesson plans that help promote children’s development, literacy and early education.
- Lead individual children, small groups, and large groups in educational instruction.
- Attend chapel weekly with class.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
- Review with staff the progress of each child and develop written plans to promote each child’s growth and development.
- Act as a leading figure in the classroom establishing a positive relationship with the Assistant Teachers and Parents.
- Work with Associate Teachers to plan and implement daily program in accordance with the lesson plan.
- Communicate with parents about behavioral ups and downs.
- Provide weekly update with parents, respond to emails in a timely manner, and update the class Shutterfly account with pictures.
- Set up and maintain a well-organized and safe classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Evaluate children and prepare progress reports as required during the school year.
- Conduct parent- teacher conferences and document outcomes and plan of action.
- Oversee children’s care and safety during their time spent in the school facilities.
- Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests and needs to facilitate learning and growth.
- Maintain a respectful environment with children, parents and staff at school at all times.
- Supervise and engage with children on playground areas.
- Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Administer first aid (Band-Aid, ice packs, etc.) and document accidents
- Attend certain school functions as required by the administration (ie. Open House, staff meetings, trainings, etc.)
- Support the school with words and actions on and off campus.
- Maintain confidentiality in school matters and in regard to students, their families, and coworkers.
- Demonstrate patience when interacting with children, parents, and coworkers.
- Understand a preschooler’s social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual developmental needs.
- Participate in training and professional development; goal setting with supervisor
- Be evaluated throughout the year through informal and formal classroom observation.
- Showing support and high esteem for School at all times.
- Attending and participating in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Complying with conditions as stated in employee agreement and handbook.

- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Assistant Head of School or Director of Preschool such as carpool.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s preferred or Degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field, preferred; Associate degree with a CDA credential will be considered (this level of education must obtain or have a CDA credential).
- Minimum of two years of teaching in a preschool environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with children three to four years of age.
- Ability to create a harmonious environment where they work as a team with other teachers and assistants.
- Ability to communicate positively with parents, including feedback about the child’s day is a must.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Must work well individually and as part of a small team; ability to interact collaboratively with parents, students and administration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or other similar programs.
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
- Superior time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be flexible

- Employee should be comfortable with prolonged sitting and standing.
- Employee should be able to lift and hold up to 50 lbs.
- Employee should be able to squat to a child’s height and maintain eye contact at a child’s level.
- Employee should be able to bend and reach from floor to waist several times throughout the day.
- Employee should be able to do lifting and walking as needed.
- Employee should be able to go outside with the children, perform carpool in various types of weather (heat, cold and rain).
- The employee is continuously involved with supervising and interacting with students including, but not limited to, transitioning from location to location, drop off and pickup responsibilities, and lunch.

This is for the 2025-26 school year with a start date of August 4th. Hours are school days from 8am - 2pm.
