St. Barnabas School Position Title: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Full-Time Position Summary
The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at St. Barnabas School's Early Learning Center supports the academic, social-emotional, and spiritual growth of 4- and 5-year-old children who are preparing for Kindergarten. Rooted in our Catholic identity and Early Learning Center philosophy, this full-day program offers a nurturing, faith-filled environment that fosters exploration, independence, and Christian values. The teacher works in partnership with a dedicated aide and families to create a developmentally appropriate classroom that blends play-based learning with structured whole-group instruction in reading, writing, math, and religion. With an emphasis on individualized attention and hands-on learning, the teacher helps children grow in readiness while cultivating a love of God, a caring attitude toward others, and a joyful curiosity about the world. Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Ohio Early Learning Standards and Diocesan guidelines Deliver instruction in literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, religion, and fine/gross motor development Incorporate Catholic values, daily prayer, and weekly Mass into classroom routines Balance academic instruction with purposeful play, exploration, and creative activities Support participation in specials classes including STEM, computer, art, music, library, and physical education Classroom Environment Create a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment that encourages independence, empathy, and problem-solving Establish and maintain clear routines and expectations that reflect early childhood best practices Provide differentiated instruction and foster each child's unique growth and learning style Assessment and Communication Observe, assess, and document student progress using developmentally appropriate tools Communicate regularly with families to support home-school connections and student growth Professionalism and Collaboration Partner with the classroom aide and other school staff to meet the needs of all learners Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while upholding the values of St. Barnabas School Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required) Valid Ohio Early Childhood Teaching License Experience in a Pre-K or early childhood setting Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills Warm, patient, and enthusiastic approach to early learning
