Summary
As a Pre-K Lead Teacher, you will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for young children. Reporting to the Preschool Director, you will utilize your core skills in classroom management, early childhood education, and effective communication to create engaging lesson plans and support children's development.
Hours are Tuesday- Friday 8:30am-12:15pm and our program year starts September 2, 2025- May 21, 2026 with a teacher work week August 25- 28.

Duties
-Teaching and interacting with children. Staff, and parents in a manner consistent with the philosophy of Promises Preschool
-Treating each child, staff, and parent with respect, developing positive relationships with all involved.
-Following all preschool policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
-Planning developmentally age-appropriate daily lesson plan which will encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. Helping children problem solve independently through modeling.
-Recognizing the individual needs of each child including special needs, special interests, and pace of learning.
-Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
-Train and Utilize Brightwheel Childcare Management Software: daily attendance, lesson plans, updating calendar, communication with parents and staff, incident reports, posting pictures/videos of children, etc.
-Coordinating use of shared space and equipment with other staff members.
-Informing the Director of any parent concerns or unreasonable children’s behavior.
-Reporting to the Director any equipment repairs or replacements needed.
-Reporting to the Director any supplies that are needed.
-Disinfecting all toys that have been put in children’s mouths.
-Cleaning toys and wiping down all surfaces to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
-Keeping classroom and playgrounds free of obvious injury hazards.
-Assist children in the restroom as needed, including changing children into fresh clothes if needed.
-Maintaining Emergency Bags: class list, carpool form, emergency medical form, allergy information/medication, Emergency Management Plan, First Aid supplies.
-Securing substitutes when needed.
-Conducting scheduled and “as needed” conferences with parents.
-Planning and clarifying expectations for assistant teacher or substitute teacher.
Requirements
Must possess a love for nurturing and working with young children and have the ability to relate well with them, their parents, and fellow teachers. High energy level, organizational skills and creativity are a help. Bachelor's degree and /or 3 years of experience related to early childhood education, preschool, or elementary education is preferred. Associates degree or 2 years of post-high school education with 3 years of experience is required. CPR and MAT certified or willing to complete certification.

About Us
We are a ministry of Three Chopt Presbyterian Church. We focus on play based learning and meeting children where they are to guide them through their development. We are a half-day program open from 9am-noon Mondays-Fridays. We serve children 20 months to 5 years old. Our school year calendar includes a teacher work week August 25-28, 2025 with the school year beginning September 2, 2025 through May 15, 2026.
