JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS: Charter schools may employ non-certified teachers if they have a bachelor's degree and meet other qualifications. Preferred, but not required: Professional Educator License (PEL).

Successful teaching experience desired, but not necessary.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to be an effective member of a team.

Commitment to data-based decision-making and continuous improvement model.

Able to communicate effectively with parents and students

Knowledge of relevant technology including the use of technology in the classroom.

Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

REPORTS TO: Lower School Principal/Upper School Principal POSITION SUMMARY: CLCS is looking for a teacher who is versatile and has a working knowledge of grades K-8 Illinois Physical Education standards. Responsibilities include providing a well-rounded current pedagogy. Potential candidates should be well versed in the academic, social/emotional needs of Elementary and Middle school students and possess a willingness to devote the time required to be successful. This teacher must be collaborative and collegial and be an active, positive presence that promotes a safe and welcoming learning environment for both students and colleagues. Instructs an age/ability level appropriate Physical Education curriculum as adopted by CLCS for Elementary and Middle school

Integrates essential and advanced skills for Physical Education at the Elementary and Middle school level

Provides instruction in accordance with the time allotted in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

Instructs students in state-mandated goals of Physical Education as specified

Works with members of the Physical Education department and plans a well-balanced Physical Education curriculum

Tracks and maintains school inventory

Maintains and updates all classroom records

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Classroom-based with regular interaction throughout the school.

Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours.

PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $47,000 - $80,000
