Job Summary: The PASS Specialist is a certified general education teacher who leads the Positive Approach to Student Success (PASS) program, focusing on students needing intensive behavioral and academic support. This role involves developing individualized behavior plans, guiding students through positive behavioral changes, and supporting teachers and families to create a unified approach to student success.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Contribute to creating and refining individualized behavior plans for students during the Pre-Placement process. 2. Provide behavior-focused instruction, plan and provide academic instruction, and monitor academic progress for students in the PASS program. 3. Assist general and special education teachers in supporting students transitioning from the PASS program back into the classroom. 4. Maintain consistent communication with parents through daily or weekly updates on student progress and program goals. 5. Collect and analyze behavioral data to guide and adjust student interventions effectively. 6. Lead PASS team meetings, sharing updates and student data to promote a collaborative approach. 7. Provide training for school staff and parents on PASS principles and strategies for supporting students. 8. Keep accurate records of student progress and program data, ensuring documentation is up to date. 9. Apply de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm environment during student crises. 10. Guide and support PASS paraeducators in delivering effective instruction and behavioral support. 11. Promote a collaborative, team-oriented approach among PASS staff to support student progress.
Qualifications: - Certified in elementary education teacher -Knowledge of behavior management and reading instruction. -Understanding of functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention planning. -Strong communication skills with both students and adults. - Calm, flexible, and patient demeanor in high-pressure situations. - Experience with data collection and analysis for behavior management (preferred).
Working Environment: The PASS Specialist works closely with students, teachers, parents, and staff to implement the PASS program successfully. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for managing the dynamic nature of student behaviors and growth within the program.
Terms of Employment: : The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
