Summary

Next Gen Prep's Music Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction to neurodivergent learners ages 3-12. This position involves teaching general music concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical form, as well as introducing students to musical instruments and music theory. The teacher implements a comprehensive music curriculum that may include vocal and instrumental instruction, ensemble participation, and creative expression. In addition to fostering an appreciation for music, the teacher supports students’ social-emotional development and contributes to the broader school community through performances, events, and cross-curricular collaboration.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver music lessons aligned with school curriculum and educational standards.
• Teach students to play classroom instruments (e.g., recorders, percussion, Orff instruments).
• Introduce and reinforce basic music theory, including note reading, rhythm, and musical terminology.
• Encourage creativity and student participation through singing, movement, and improvisation.
• Prepare students for performances, assemblies, and school programs.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support interdisciplinary learning.
• Maintain inventory of instruments and materials; ensure proper care and storage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Experience with a variety of instruments and instructional methods.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for working with young children and inspiring a love for music.
