Key responsibilities include:
Providing individualized orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments
Assessing student needs and developing tailored mobility plans to improve independence and safety
Collaborating closely with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate mobility goals within the overall educational framework
Utilizing assistive technology and adaptive techniques to facilitate effective learning experiences
Monitoring and documenting student progress while adjusting instructional strategies as necessary
Participating in team meetings and contributing expertise to support student success
Desired qualifications and experience:
Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or equivalent)
Experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly with visually impaired students
