Summary

Next Gen Prep's Music Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction to neurodivergent learners ages 3-12. This position involves teaching general music concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical form, as well as introducing students to musical instruments and music theory. The teacher implements a comprehensive music curriculum that may include vocal and instrumental instruction, ensemble participation, and creative expression. In addition to fostering an appreciation for music, the teacher supports students’ social-emotional development and contributes to the broader school community through performances, events, and cross-curricular collaboration.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver music lessons aligned with school curriculum and educational standards. Teach students to play classroom instruments (e.g., recorders, percussion, Orff instruments). Introduce and reinforce basic music theory, including note reading, rhythm, and musical terminology. Encourage creativity and student participation through singing, movement, and improvisation. Prepare students for performances, assemblies, and school programs. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment. Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support interdisciplinary learning. Maintain inventory of instruments and materials; ensure proper care and storage.

Requirements

High School Diploma Experience with a variety of instruments and instructional methods. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Passion for working with young children and inspiring a love for music.
