Job Summary
Parlier Unified School District is seeking a passionate and talented Music Teacher/Band Director for Secondary School Sites. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic instrumental music program, including classroom instruction and full ensemble direction across Secondary grade levels. This position plays a vital role in supporting student creativity, discipline, and academic achievement through the arts.
This role includes a stipend for additional responsibilities such as marching band, summer band camp, after-school rehearsals, and public performances.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teach music classes using the district-approved curriculum aligned with California Arts Standards.
Direct and manage all instrumental ensembles, including concert and marching bands.
Oversee all aspects of the marching band program: rehearsals, sectionals, uniforms, instruments, and performances.
Prepare students for school concerts, athletic events, parades, festivals, and adjudicated competitions.
Direct other performance groups (e.g., jazz band, pep band, choir, mariachi) as needed based on student interest and program needs.
Collaborate with staff to develop curriculum, analyze student data, and implement instructional strategies.
Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Mentor student leaders (e.g., drum majors, section leaders) and promote participation in extracurricular opportunities (e.g., honor bands).
Communicate consistently with students, families, and school personnel.
Manage equipment, music library, and program logistics including field trips and community events.
Promote program activities through school/community channels and fundraising efforts.
