#S1I - CLASSROOM TEACHER I. General Functions Teachers shall be responsible to the school principal and:

Encourage, inspire, and motivate children to learn.

Adhere to the course of study, use legally authorized textbooks, and follow district policies.

Instruct students in morality, truth, justice, patriotism, and American citizenship rights and duties.

Attend to pupils' physical welfare, including classroom environment and wellbeing.

Contribute to good staff relations.

Cooperate in community activities.

Participate in curriculum development.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

Work cooperatively to resolve staff problems.

Assume a fair share of school duties, such as yard and bus duty, as assigned.

Be present at school at least 30 minutes before and after school hours.

Keep reports, records, and registers accurate, neat, and submit promptly.

Maintain confidentiality of information according to professional ethics and district policies.

Communicate through channels prescribed by the superintendent.

Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession.

Avoid outside activities that impair teaching efficiency or moral standing.

Responsible for school property and instruct pupils in its proper care.

Plan effective lessons and keep substitute folders current.

Participate in extracurricular duties fairly.

Maintain classroom discipline and support school discipline efforts.

Attend faculty and PTA meetings as scheduled.

Support professional organizations and participate in district in-service activities.

Report pupil progress through parent conferences at least twice yearly.

Encourage promising students and others to pursue teaching careers.

Undergo required medical examinations.

Ensure proper credentials are recorded with the County Superintendent.

Report and care for accidents per district policies.

Collaborate with the school nurse on health issues.

Maintain professional grooming and personal appearance as part of teacher evaluation.

Notify about substitutes by 7:00 a.m., and inform the Personnel Office of return to work promptly.
