Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing quality education to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves creating an inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic and social development while employing various teaching strategies tailored to individual student requirements. This position would be in an ICT setting.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. Educate students using a variety of instructional techniques and resources, including technology, to enhance learning. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and challenges. Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly. Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for each student's educational journey. Engage in academic advising to guide students in their educational pathways and future goals.

Qualifications

Degree in Special Education; Master's degree preferred. Valid NYS teaching certification in Special Education. Math and/or Science Background preferred Literacy Background helpful Experience working with children with special needs in a classroom setting is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to calculate student progress through assessments and adapt lesson plans as needed. Knowledge of classroom management techniques that promote a safe and productive learning environment. Familiarity with literacy education strategies that cater to diverse learners is beneficial. Experience or training in behavioral therapy practices is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
