Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence:

  • Develop and implement engaging and rigorous science lessons (e.g., life science, physical science, earth science) aligned with state standards and Liberation Academy's curriculum goals.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, laboratory investigations, and technology integration, to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages scientific curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with diverse academic abilities and backgrounds.
  • Assess student learning regularly through various formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and grades.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Communicate clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance.

Collaboration and Professionalism:

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, parents, and the wider school community to support student success.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture and climate.
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with parents regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.

Curriculum Development and Innovation:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the middle school science curriculum.
  • Stay current with best practices in science education and integrate new approaches and resources into instruction.
  • Seek opportunities to connect science concepts to real-world applications and interdisciplinary studies.
