Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License
- Appropriate State of Ohio Intervention Specialist License
- Two years of experience serving students with significant disabilities is preferred.
- Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification (provided by WCBDD)
- Demonstrates a sincere desire to educate complex learners.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move individuals receiving services safely according to in-service training unless reasonable accommodation has been made.
General Description:
Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement an educational program for up to 6/8 school-age students with significant, complex learning needs (multiple disabilities and/or autism). The age level of the classroom will be determined by student referrals and needs and could range from 5 to 21.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain records as required by district, WCESC, and WCBDD policy; maintain professional ethics.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships, including cooperating and collaborating with other classroom teachers and administration.
- Exhibits professional responsibility and growth.
- Follows Positive Support Guidelines as appropriate and per the policy of the WCBDD.
- Maintains a close cooperative relationship with the family of each child.
- Develops teaching materials, instructional methods, and lesson plans each day that indicate the implementation of Ohio's Learning Standards-Extended.
- Demonstrate subject matter knowledge and connect content to life experiences and pre-vocational/vocational opportunities.
- Manages and engages multiple paraprofessional staff in the support of assigned students.
- Collects data on student goals and behavior regularly and reports successes and concerns with the family through daily sheets, parent/guardian communications, progress reports, and student meetings.
- Works collaboratively with home school districts to coordinate and complete the required Special Education records and paperwork.
- Assist in selecting textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials essential for student success and fiscally responsible.
- Attend county and faculty meetings as adopted in the Wood County Educational Service Center calendar unless excused by the Educational Coordinator.
- Attend quarterly WCBDD agency trainings and weekly school staff meetings.
