We are seeking a full-time Middle School English Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute from March 15, 2026 to June 5, 2026.
About the Role
The Middle School humanities program engages students in Grades 5–8 through interdisciplinary and collaborative English and history instruction. While each discipline is scheduled separately, the program is designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and civic engagement. The English teacher works closely with the history teacher at each grade level to create meaningful, connected learning experiences that invite students to see themselves as agents of change. A successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and a passion for working with middle school students in a student-centered classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging English classes that hone students' reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Collaborate closely with humanities colleagues and the broader middle school faculty to design and implement curriculum.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and student voice.
Serve as a middle school advisor and contribute to the life of the school.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in English or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Experience with middle school-aged students and a standards-based learning environment.
Strong organizational skills, classroom management, and the ability to create a joyful learning environment.
Commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and a passion for fostering curiosity and engagement in young learners.
Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
