Emerson-Williams Elementary School is seeking a motivated and dedicated professional to serve as our Long-Term Substitute General Music / Chorus Teacher to fill an opening. The position is vital to our school as the staff member has regular and influential interaction with students, staff and parents/families. This role will be filled immediately.
Position: Long-Term Substitute General Music / Chorus Teacher School: Emerson-Williams Elementary School Reports To: Building Principal Start Date: August 18, 2025 Duration: Expected to end December 2, 2025 Compensation: $160/day (certified teacher), $130/day (non-certified) Application Date: Posting will remain open until filled Employer: Kelly Educational Staffing (staffing partner to Wethersfield Public Schools) **
* Eligible for a retention bonus to be paid at the conclusion of the long-term assignment. The candidate must commit to, and fulfill, the full duration of the long-term assignment to remain eligible for the bonus payment ($500 to $1,500, depending on actual days worked).
** The chosen candidate will be employed by our temporary staffing partner, Kelly Educational Staffing, and will be assigned to fill this opening.
The substitute General Music / Chorus Teacher will be responsible for all common teacher responsibilities, including but not limited to preparing and delivering lessons and ensuring students receive regular feedback and assessment. This position will teach a general music course for all students in Grades K-6. This position will also teach additional chorus classes for all students in Grade 5 and Grade 6. The chorus classes are large group ensembles.
Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree; Appropriate CT Certification credentials are preferred, but not required; Background, experience, and passion pertaining to vocal performance is needed; Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to interact with students, staff and parents; Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities and work independently and with a sense of urgency; Excellent classroom management skills with both small and large groups; Ability to handle and treat information confidentially
