Summary

The UU World of Children Montessori School is seeking a caring and reliable Long-Term Substitute Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our Primary classroom (children ages 3–6) during the afternoon hours, Monday–Friday from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM .

This position is to cover a maternity leave and is expected to begin sometime in October (exact start date TBD) and continue for approximately three months .

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience working with young children or for college students majoring in Early Childhood Education or a related field to gain hands-on experience in a Montessori setting. Montessori certification is not required.

Duties

Assist the Lead Teacher in managing the afternoon routine Supervise and engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities Help maintain a calm, clean, and inviting classroom environment Support children's independence and exploration in a respectful way Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff

Requirements

High school diploma Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.) Ability to pass required state background checks Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire If you continue with us as a substitute during the school year, CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided)
