Long Term Preschool Substitute Teacher

Long term substitute for preschool teacher. Approximate start date: end of October 2025 through Feb 4, 2026. State of Iowa teaching license required. A strong belief system for collaboration with staff members and families.

Daily $150/day, $75/half day

Daily, sub taught 30+ days in prior school year $170/day, $85/half day

Daily, after 15 days in one school year $170/day, $85/half day

Extended (16+ days in the same assignment, retroactive to 1st day)

Tier 3: Sub Authorization or Sub License $200/day, $100 half day

Tier 2: Has or held an Iowa teaching license $250/day, $125 half day

Tier 1: Has or held the correct Iowa endorsement for the assignment $275/day, $137.50 half day

The following information will be needed for a substitute teacher position:

  1. Iowa Teaching License
  2. Mandatory Reporter: Child Abuse
  3. Right To Know
  4. Transcripts

Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of and enthusiasm to work with students at the designated level.
  2. Ability to create and maintain healthy relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
  3. Ability to provide instruction to effectively meet the needs of all students.
  4. Ability to effectively implement multiple teaching methods (co-teaching, small group, differentiation, etc).
  5. Knowledge and ability to implement the Iowa Teaching Standards.
  6. Knowledge of special education, section 504 and MTSS process.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  8. Ability to effectively use technology for instruction, communication and data management.
  9. Ability to effectively engage in professional growth individually and with collaborative teams.
  10. Ability to implement federal, state and district goals with students.
  11. Knowledge of Federal, State and Department of Iowa regulations.
  12. Knowledge of Federal rights, Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.


Substitute teachers and nurses are not entitled to and shall not receive a continuing employment contract pursuant to Iowa Code Section 279.15.

Selection Procedure:

Applicants with completed applications will be screened for the interview process. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a call or email from the person involved with the hiring process. You will receive an email notification if you are not selected for an interview.
